Keep skin smooth, moisturized and away from wrinkles starts with regular use of sunscreen. But where this story ends up depends on you and your willingness to invest time and money in cosmetic care.. But an anti-aging product is gaining more and more prominence on women's shelves: specific creams for the eye area, skin much thinner and more sensitive than the rest of the face and prone to the dreaded dark circles.
Besides that, given the proximity of the eyes, this region does not accept any type of formula well. “The chances of allergies and irritations are high”, says dermatologist Leandra Metsavaht, director of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology.
the different types
There are five basic types of eye creams, with action specified on the packaging:
– Moisturizers: they usually come with sunscreen and keep the skin soft;
– makeup removers: remove makeup and must be hypoallergenic (rarely irritate the skin or cause an allergy on the face, including the eye area);
– Revitalizing: fight dark circles and puffiness;
– Anti aging: have vitamins against wrinkles and sagging;
– Revitalization for old age: contain acids and are used to treat aging skin.
For all ages
Creams for the eye area can be used from 25 years, when sunscreen actives are no longer enough to contain skin wear.
Dermatologist Leandra Metsavaht explains that, in younger skins, creams with vitamins and moisturizers are indicated to prevent aging and some active against dark circles, such as caffeine and derivatives. “In the most mature skins, in addition to these substances, we can prescribe the hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid and alpha hydroxy acids, gluconolactone and polypeptides, that act directly on the aging region”, complete.
The best, however, is to consult a dermatologist before choosing between a ready-made formula or a specific manipulation for your needs.
Care with the application
Each cream has a specific time to be applied. Acidic versions should be used at night, because they can make your skin more sensitive to ultraviolet light and cause spots if you sunbathe.
During the day, the recommendation is to use creams with sunscreen, as they protect the skin from sun damage. “Apply the product with the ring finger, spreading from the inside out, both in the upper eyelid and in the lower eyelid.”
When buying
Leave home knowing what you want and go after the information contained on the labels. “Also identify if the formula is dermato and ophthalmologically tested, avoiding skin and eye allergies”, teach the doctor.
Creams for this area should not even run and, if they are for the day, it is ideal that they contain sun protection – you gain practicality, saves money and does not risk creating a thick layer of cosmetics on the skin, especially if you're still wearing makeup.
